Up & Cookin’

By Miles Buttafoco

“Help aspiring cooks by trying and critiquing their food, get graded for your palate!”

Who is it for? (Target Audience)

Up and coming chefs, cooks looking to improve their craft, or food connoisseurs. Anyone can take part, as long as they enjoy food.

What does it do? (Functionalities)

It helps pair up a “chef” and a “client”, the chef would move to the client’s kitchen and cook the ordered meal (or just a simple dish), the client would then eat and critique the chef’s dish and the chef would grade client’s feedback. This exchange of grades would then affect both party’s MMR (Match Making Rating).

Why would people use it? (Incentive)

Every account has an MMR tied to it, the MMR is a number which designates the “rank” of a chef or “client”. The main attraction is “stars” that separate the main leagues of people's MMR. Hopefully, the competitive aspect of this skill-based ranking, the aspect of getting to eat cheap, good quality food, and bettering one’s cooking skill with honest reviews from total strangers create enough of an incentive for users to use the service (although this is a niche market). Additionally, getting into the higher ranks could offer increasingly useful gifts, anywhere from special profile icon unlocks, to receiving cooking utensils (top 100), to a paid internship at a professional restaurant (top 10).

What about the time and place? (Availability)

The main screen shows restaurant “cloche” being held up, these are nearby, available, chefs and clients. The cloche can be tapped on and opened to see more information about the users. The chefs and clients shown are often in proximity to the user’s own location, thus lowering the price of the chef’s service.
